Inner Awesomeness
10 Ways to Find Your Inspiration (and Inner Awesomeness)

“I forgot that I was awesome.” This sentence grabs me on so many levels, and is at the heart of what Eugene Hennie (whose video we link to below) has to say. “I forgot that I was awesome”: words that, in some ways we want everyone to be able to say—because it implies that they know that they’re awesome, but also words we want no one to say—because we don’t want anyone to ever forgot how awesome they are.

Reflecting back on his own journey to know himself, Eugene shares 10 strategies for finding your inner awesomeness, for discovering—or rediscovering—your passion. Inner awesomeness and passion are words that directly connect to our MBTI® preferences, whether we realize them or not. Our unique MBTI type combined with our experiences, upbringing and other facets of our personality is part of what makes each of us so special, and knowing our MBTI type preferences can help each of us to find our own inner awesomeness.

Now, I don’t want to tell you Eugene’s strategies (there’s a fantastic TEDxTalk just waiting for you to watch it here so I don’t want to spoil it) but I do want to share how many of his strategies point back to MBTI type preferences. If I know my preferences, really know my preferences, it can help me to discover my awesomeness and better appreciate my amazing, spectacular, unique self.

I remember a friend lacking just a bit in self-confidence, who felt he didn’t really know himself, once telling me, “You’re amazing.” My response? “I know I am. So are you. You just haven’t realized it yet.”

Realize it. Take the time to get to know yourself and your preferences—not just as four letters but as your preferences, your function pair (the two middle letters of your MBTI type and how they work together), your dominant (favorite) function—all the nuances of MBTI type and how they are part of your personality that make you awesome.

Take the time to watch this TEDxTalk, to consider the 10 strategies that Eugene offers, and to answer this question, “Do you remember that you are awesome?” Remember it. Don’t forget. You are awesome.
